Faïence, cobalt glaze, gemstone ring and star painted in white and yellow and inscribed “DURAT.ET LUCET”, coat of arms with the initials SHB and the date 1651.

The producers of Haban faïence were members of an international group of persecuted religious reformers who had found refuge in southern Moravia in the sixteenth century and later made their way to the territory of Hungary. They had brought a wealth of experience in fine ceramic production, metalworking and lacemaking from their original home (Italy). Their production of faïence, the quality of their tin glazes, and their classic forms and typical decorations brought acclaim to the Anabaptist community and became a unique example of world cultural heritage.
